Sustainable Seafood Training Empowering Culinary Students

WWF-SASSI Sustainable Seafood Training at Capsicum Culinary Studio
Published July 5, 2023

We recently had the privilege of facilitating the WWF-SASSI Sustainable Seafood training at Capsicum Culinary Studio in Cape Town, led by the esteemed Angela Barter, Sustainability Communication Strategist and founder of The PR Agency.

This training course, now available to chef schools, culinary industry professionals, conservation organizations, educational institutes, and community groups, is a vital step towards increasing awareness about sustainability in the seafood supply chain. Chefs and culinary students play a crucial role as ambassadors for the WWF-SASSI program, influencing the entire seafood chain from catch to consumer demand.

Through this training, participants gain the knowledge and skills to implement sustainable seafood practices, incorporate WWF-SASSI green-listed species into their menus, and engage their guests in conversations about sustainable seafood.

The recent session at Capsicum Culinary Studio saw 20 students completing the training, equipping them with the tools to make informed choices and contribute to positive change both above and below the water.
